Botany Club is a happy, informal group who like to gently further their knowledge of botany and horticulture. It is now organised by the Friends but open to all. We meet once a month in the summer to visit interesting gardens or wildlife areas, mostly on the Island but sometimes on the Mainland.
Previous trips have included flower meadows, gardens, fungus foray, coastal walk, woodlands, Portsmouth School of Biological Sciences, historic botanical library at the Institute of Naval Medicine, etc..
In the winter we can support the varied monthly lectures at the Garden under the heading of Café Botanique. You can find details of the lecture programme as it is announced here.
It costs nothing to join but we pay £5 on each visit towards the funds of the VBG Friends’ Society or to cover expenses of a speaker.
We should really welcome some new members so if you would like to put your name on our mailing list please contact Rosemary Stewart on firstname.lastname@example.org or 01983 292107.
