Since the inaugural summer party in 2014 we have, with your help, raised enough funds, to assist three apprentices in their botanical journey.
Our first apprentice, Conrad, whom some of you will remember meeting at the first party as a very shy young man has blossomed. After his time with us, he went to Sparsholt College where he excelled and has just started full time work as an arborist at the Hillier Arboretum. He is extremely grateful to all at the Garden for supporting and encouraging him and it has been a great success story.
In order to mentor the apprentices, we, the Friends’, employ a gardener whom, as well as working in the garden, monitors their work and assesses them for their college work. None of this would have happened without your generosity and we are extremely grateful and are delighted to be able to help the young of the island in this way.
